Top-ranked Dow High swept Flint Powers 8-0 in Saginaw Valley League boys’ tennis on Thursday to improve to 12-0-1 on the season, despite missing three starters.

“I am pleased with the results. … Our reserves jumped in without missing a beat,” said Chargers’ coach Terry Schwartzkopf. “We had a phenomenal practice Wednesday with former stars John Gurnee and Vikram Shanker coming back to lend their expertise, and it “was one of the best practices we have had. The team soaked up their words like a sponge, and their focus was almost palpable.”

In singles, Austin King won the first flight 6-0, 6-0; Aaron Li won the second flight 6-4, 6-3; Artur Louro won the third flight 6-0, 6-0; and Nimai Patel won the fourth flight 6-0, 6-0.
