American Media Day Set for Friday

Houston trio to represent program at Football Media Day

HOUSTON- The University of Houston will be represented by Head Coach dana holgorsenjunior wide receiver Nathaniel Dell and junior defensive back Hasaan Hypolite when American Athletic Conference Media Day kicks off Thursday.

The event, which will be held virtually and can be seen on ESPN+, begins at 9 am CT with the unveiling of the conference’s media poll followed by remarks from Commissioner Mike Aresco before taking questions from the media. The Cougars will take to the microphone at 1:30 pm CT.

ESPN college football announcers Kris Budden and Rene Ingoglia will join The American’s Morgan Uber from the conference’s state-of-the-art studio in Irving, Texas, for coverage.

Holgorsen is entering his fourth season at the helm for the Cougars. Houston went 12-2 with an appearance in the American Athletic Conference Championship game and a victory in the 2021 Birmingham Bowl against Auburn.

Dell produced a breakout sophomore season in 2021, pacing The American in receiving yards (1,329) and receiving touchdowns (12) while ranking second in receiving yards per game (94.9) and fourth in all-purpose yards (109.64) en route to being named All-American Athletic Conference First Team.

Hypolite played a large role on one of the top defensive units in the nation last season. The Fresno, Texas, native started 12 games and finished with the eighth most tackles on the team (44), ranking fifth amongst returners entering 2022. He also recorded 3.0 tackles for loss and one interception.

The program will also include additional segments, including interviews with College Football Playoff Executive Director Bill Hancock, Bowl Season Executive Director Nick Carparelli, Tulane Director of Athletics Troy Dannen, and Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl Executive Director Brant Ringler among others.
